I’ve been working in martial arts fitness now for close to 20 years and there are a lot of common injuries. One injury is happening more than it used to because of the onslaught of mixed martial arts.  Most people used to see boxers or kickboxers utilizing boxing gloves on heavy bags, so when they’d go to a workout that’s what they’d use.  Now people are seeing people in the mixed martial arts using MMA gloves and they want to use those on the heavy bags.  I’m telling you, mixed martial arts fighters hit the heavy bag with boxing or bag gloves because that’s what they’re designed for.  MMA gloves were not designed to hit a heavy bag over a long period of time.  If you do, you’ll end up with injury to your wrist or hand.  They’re not made for that amount of impact over and over.
