Great article from a Ultimate Body Challenge student, Don Lykins, who is also a clinical psychologist. Enjoy!
In life and in sport, performance accomplishments are important sources of self-confidence. Participation in the UBC can help confidence in the following ways:
Sense of Mastery: Learning, practicing, and mastering new kicks, punches, stretches, nutritional strategies, exercises, etc.
Demonstration of Ability:
Showing off your newly acquired prowess in kickboxing, flexibility, endurance, speed, resistance
training, and reaching your goals in the fitness evaluations.
Physical and Mental Preparation: Feeling focused, ready and able to perform formerly difficult tasks. Physical conditioning is one of the best ways to develop confidence.
Physical Self-Presentation: When you believe you look good, you start to feel good.
Social Support: Getting encouragement from UBC coaches, staff and team members. Team Challenges, fitness evaluations and the Awards Dinners are all events to be looked forward to.
